Thanks to the great encouragement in the post with Oh-chan's article, I've also translated Arashi's article~
This was an article witten in January. It can be found HERE.
It is, in a way, a summarisation of Arashi's professional acheivements record-wise. Not so much a flail post as the previous Oh-chan post but still feels nice to read about them ^-^
Arashi Continues to Establish Themselves as they Approach a Decade
Lasting past a decade is an achievement for a boy band. That is what Arashi achieved, the boy band made up of Sakurai Sho (28), Aiba Masaki (27), Matsumoto Jun (26), Ninomiya Kazunari (26), and Ohno Satoshi (29), the product of the formation by management of Johnny & Associates (meaning Johnny-san chucked them together and crated a miracle XD), on 15th September 1999.
Normally, a boy band goes different ways or disbans at a young age due to differences of the members or an obsession with a solo career, but the guys of Arashi are just the opposite. As time goes on, they continue to establish themseves as an upscale boy band.
If you count, they have known each other for about, more or less, 15 years. Spanning time that can be considered long and enough to make them last (I think its referring to them them staying together after so long), considering that they are all busy with their individual professions outside of Arashi. All of them carry an acting profession.
Luckily, their togetherness as Arashi is looked after (as in they take care to be together), not only during performances or during recordings in the studio. As a group, they have television programs which always brings them closer to one another. "Our first program together was Mayonaka no Arashi which was started in 2001," said Aiba.
In May 2009, Arashi released two singles, “Believe/Kumorinochi, Kaisei” and “Ashita no Kioku/Crazy Moon: Kimi wa Muteki”, which achieved a fantastic first week sales of more than 500, 000 copies sold.
Their next single, "Everything" which was released a month later sold close to 342, 000 copies in the first week. Their best record was the greatest hits album, All the Best! 1999-2009 which was released in August.
An album which includes their hits since they've debuted, including a new song with lyrics they wrote themselves and a bonus CD filled with 10 songs of Arashi's choice, sold 1 million copies after two weeks.
The last single on 2009, "My Girl", which was released in November instantly achieved the number one song spot in Oricon with a record of 178, 000 copies on the first day and around 432, 000 copies by the end of the week.
Special thanks to Rae-chan (
